What’s next?

by Leigh / Friday, 09 February 2024 / Published in Business

How would you say you currently navigate through your day, week, life?

What processes do you apply to decide on your direction and the appropriate actions to get there?

In yesterday’s Thursday HotSeat, we considered the different options available in discerning one’s direction and next steps in heading toward our intended outcomes.

The questions above may appear to have an obvious answer if you are used to figuring things out logically and working through possible scenarios to come up with what could arguably be described ‘the best plan’. However, there is another process which invariably offers an even more fun and synchronistic path forward and cannot be accessed by reason and logic alone.

It is the difference between relying solely on our conscious and subconscious minds to assess the possibilities and probabilities, based on our past experience, other people’s past experience and our best guesses of future conditions, and instead using a simple and effective technique to allow space for inspiration, so that we can access the wisdom and intuition of our best selves (or higher consciousness, depending on your views).

The technique is simply to ask “What’s next?” and let the answers drop in.

This may sound ridiculously simplistic, but accessing our intuition, inner knowing and internal guidance system is an extremely valuable (and many would argue, superior) option to working within the constraints of the logical mind to make decisions.

Beyond the mind there are many more possibilities for left field ideas, solutions and creativity, which can speed up and enhance the journey in many ways that would be impossible to predict or consider using the logical mind alone.

Here’s a snippet from a Forbes article entitled “Why intuition is a superpower in business”, which explains it in a slightly different way:

“Intuition is a deep sense of knowing that cannot be accessed from your logical or analytical mind. It’s a voice that resides inside you. It might seem illogical and unexpected, but I believe it always has a higher plan than what you can see from your bird’s eye view.”

As the article goes on to explain, there are tools and techniques that can be used to help quiet the mind, so that we can learn to hear and access our intuition more easily. This is why we dedicate time to mastering relevant skills and practices within the Club, and the great news is that the more you listen to your intuition, the stronger it becomes. The best time to start or increase your ability to tune into it is always now 🙂

Next time you seemingly have a big decision to make which you’re not sure about, or you are feeling overwhelmed by all the things you have to do, or you simply have a choice of which way to go with something, or what to do next, you can try asking the question “What’s next?”. Another option is to say “Decide for me?” and then create some quiet space between thoughts for the answers to drop in.

Heads up: Those who are adept at meditation or have a clearer mind receive and recognise clearer direction. Like all processes or strategies to enhance performance, this takes discipline and practise.

If this is a new way of doing things for you, you may just be surprised by the outcomes.
