Putting the ‘I’ in Team

by Leigh / Friday, 03 June 2022 / Published in Business

Do you have a fantastic Team culture with room for improvements in efficiency that you haven’t yet explored or developed?

In yesterday’s Meeting of the Titans, our Member in focus was exploring ways to structure the working week within his Company for improved efficiency and focus. He mentioned that he could call out for help now and have about 10 staff members jumping in to help, which is an amazing culture to work in, but he also wanted them to be able to fully focus on their own roles and responsibilities.

This raised a great question, which is:

Within a strong Team culture where there is high priority on being available to contribute on a Team and organisational level, how can we put the ‘I’ in Team, in terms of focus on individual responsibilities and reducing distraction, without diminishing the Team work ethic?

One suggestion (and a tool that many Club Members use) is Talent Dynamics Profiling. This provides understanding and clarity about each Team member’s ‘genius flow’, which simply put is the type of work and tasks which they have a particular propensity for.

If a person is working within their genius flow, they are able to complete tasks more efficiently, more easily, to a higher standard, and most importantly will get more enjoyment and fulfilment from them than a person who has learnt to do a particular task, but it is not their natural bent.

Defining and clarifying Team member’s strengths as individuals, as well as how they then fit together and compliment each other within the Team, simplifies who the ‘Go To’ people are in different situations, leaving other Team members uninterrupted.

Many Club Members will attest that the understanding they have gained from these profiling tools has been a game-changer for everything within their Team (and their own lives) from what tasks they keep and what they delegate, to how they hire and train Team members.

If you are new to this type of profiling, I highly recommend you as a leader take the Wealth Dynamics test to gain more understanding of your own Genius Flow, and then use Talent Dynamics to profile your Team, or at minimum, the key members.
