Do you ever feel like a bigger or different life experience is calling you and progress is slower than hoped?
In yesterday’s Thursday HotSeat, our Member in focus shared that although he is good at starting and implementing things, he always seems to get lost somewhere along the way. He could see that this was restricting him from getting what he really wanted and so asked for assistance.
He has developed his self-awareness using some of the unique and seemingly alternative tools we provide in the Club, like meditation, priority management and pivoting, however was sharing that he was still getting lost in the small stuff, which was bringing some frustration.
His awareness of the blind spot, and articulation of what was working and what wasn’t, combined with my awareness of his entrepreneur profile (Creator) gave me the information I needed to begin to discover what might be in the way, and how to assist him best to move forward.
It became clearer from our interaction that improving his awareness of the aspects of his experience that he is good at, and enjoys the most, would have him question and expand his awareness of his purpose, which would begin to elevate his thinking, and provide more motivation in the now.
Without a clear, inspiring and purposeful destination, it is very easy to get lost and spend our time on things that aren’t actually helping us to progress towards what we really want. Discerning where to put our time and what activities should be the priority, in business or life, is near impossible without being really clear about where we are heading.
It can kind of feel like an eternity of driving around in circles in the car park and never making real progress toward reaching your destination. or running around putting out fires, only to have new ones spring up just as quickly.
As an entrepreneur or business owner, you may well relate to this and it can be a tricky cycle to break. I’ve shared the process with you below so that you can gain further clarity on where you are heading, and what might be your purpose, which will alter and improve your motivation, and open your awareness of the best route to get there.
PROCESS: Clarify your bigger purpose
Block out some time for yourself and find a relaxing spot to answer the following questions. Then use your answers to clarify what living a life on purpose might look like for you.
Have a pen and paper handy so that you can jot down your answers and any thoughts that you have on the way through:
1. What would your Mum say that you are best at?
2. What would your friends say that you are best at?
3. What do you do in your spare time that you love and time seems to pass when you do that thing?
5. If you had 100M in the bank creating unlimited abundance for you, what would you spend a lot of your time doing?
6. What is the common feeling associated with all of the above experiences and where in your body do you feel that?
7. Close your eyes and imagine that you spend more of your time engaged in these activities, enjoying those feelings, and fast-forward 5 years into the future.
Who are you now? What do you spend your time doing? How do you bring value to the world? Where and how do you live? Who are you with?
