In yesterday’s Thursday HotSeat, a new Member shared with the Brain’s Trust regarding the level of availability he felt he needed within his business to navigate the high compliance and high responsibility landscape of delivering NDIS services. He had in fact been making sure that he was the main point of contact, almost 24-7, for any issues or challenges, so that he could effectively navigate any unexpected situations to the best outcome for all.
It opened a great discussion about the value of presence, in terms of enabling heightened productivity, discernment and inspiration, as well as providing space for increased self-awareness, intuition and guidance. Members of the Brains Trust shared similar experiences and their awareness that trying to cover multiple bases simultaneously renders us not able to be fully present with any of it, ourselves, or anything greater.
It was interesting to explore this in the context of work/family life balance as well, and for those working from home or weaving business and family commitments around each other, whether working this way enabled the level of truly present family time they really wanted.
It was a great opportunity to consider cultural and family beliefs around needing to be extensively available, and also the need to work hard to achieve desired outcomes. These beliefs can shape our experience and have us in an intense state of busyness; when the option exists to have the desired outcomes, enjoyment and also quality family time/time to do things we love, from a place of ease and flow.
For the Member in focus, it opened an opportunity to see new ways to meet the stringent compliance requirements of NDIS, as well as delivering the highest level of care and dedication to clients, without robbing his presence from other areas of his life that were also important to him.
