In yesterday’s Meeting of the Titans, we went with a ‘Multiseat’ format instead of the usual Hotseat, which gave Members in attendance another way to explore areas they wanted input on.
It highlighted a common theme which is relevant for all of us in the current business climate, which is how to navigate the changes being brought into our work lives through the advancement of AI, and the knock-on effects for the future of our industries and how we do business.
One Member was considering taking on a new estimator at a likely cost of around $150K pa. It became clear to him from feedback from both myself and the Brain’s Trust that by adopting specific AI platforms (including some that can produce costings from a plan), he would be able to easily reduce the time invested for his current estimators and eventually hand most of it over to AI. This is likely to negate the need for a new full-time estimator, which was obviously a major win for him.
The Members within the Club whose businesses are in SaaS (Software as a Service) also offered to speak with him offline to provide further support, and one of them can also create a custom option for him if required.
This led us into hearing from the SaaS Members themselves, about their current experience of redefining their businesses, the value they provide and their focus within the new landscape of no-code creation of apps, websites etc. House futurist Craig Rispin has commented previously that the slowest sector to embrace the integration of AI has been the tech departments of companies, which makes sense for a variety of reasons.
However, in this case, these leaders are proactively riding the wave to make the most of the current gap between non-tech users and AI’s capabilities (which is fast closing), whilst focussing their time and energy into the areas that their future value will be.
What the future looks like for organisations is a question we are all likely to be considering to a greater or lesser degree, and getting (or staying) on the front foot is actually a much more comfortable position than having to play catch-up later on.
It’s never been more valuable to have a group of like-minded leaders to share with and bounce off, and it was super-evident that together we are stronger, and between us we have everything we need.
