In today’s session with Club Futurist, Craig Rispin, we were brought up to speed with the newest AI developments which continue to evolve exponentially – doubling in capabilities every 50 days, actually..
The reality now, is that someone who’s completely non technical can use a limited number of effective prompts to create marketing materials, automate workflows and even generate entire websites and apps in a few minutes, using tools which are easily accessible to all.
We really are now in an exponential world.
The speed of evolution, new apps being created and upgrades being released at a rapid pace can leave some of us feeling a bit flat-footed; like we’re trying to merge into high-speed traffic.
This feeling and fear of being a bit off pace is also likely to be felt by our teams too as we implement AI into the workplace. It’s a reality that AI will cause the replacement or at least the reinvention of most (if not all) roles over the short to medium term, and this is the obvious outcome to team members.
With the capability now for any of our teams to automate their workflows themselves, it’s important to address these fears so that they can actively participate in implementing AI which effectively puts them out of a job in many ways.
Being transparent that their role in its current form will be coming to an end, or getting creative about new possibilities and ways to keep working with the team member is important in reducing their resistance to the changes. If you value the team member you have, there are many ways to use their highly leveraged work week to mutual advantage. This could be working on new projects together, or requiring less hours from them for the same pay, for example.
We are implementing AI into Club processes using a “one foot in front of the other” approach. With the team behind me, getting up to pace and on the highway is proving to be a fun and rewarding exercise.
I trust it will be for you too.
