Yesterday’s Meeting of the Titans session was an ode to the benefits of doing our own inner work, to be able to consider different perspectives and the gifts they offer.
The newer Member in focus shared openly with the brains trust about the places that his outlook, and that of his new GM, weren’t quite in alignment, and the difficulties that he was experiencing as a result.
Despite expressing how strongly he felt about their differences of opinion, which was mainly to do with the management of his team (which is something he truly cares about); he was adamant that she is the right fit as GM and that he wants to continue on the path that they are on.
This left him with really only one valid option to improve the situation, which was to consider how he could change or improve his perspective, understanding, and interactions with his GM, in order to support a more enjoyable experience and greater results.
Because have you ever tried to change someone else? Not easy..
And has anyone ever tried to change you? How did they go with that..😆
The brains trust offered their wisdom, tips and tools from their lived experience of having consciously decided to practice and implement the ‘inner work’ in order to support similar changes and improvements in their own lives and businesses.
They shared that having gradually increased their understanding of their own part in the way things were playing out for them, they had been able to ‘let go’ of certain fixed perspectives and meanings, and been able to access more of their inner guidance to intuitively ‘know’ what to do in situations to make them better, more often coming from a place of alignment and connection.
As always, the discussion represented a common thread that we are all working on to some degree or another. We all get takeaways from the discussion and relate to it in our own way and from our own perspective.
This understanding and the context that we are all working through this together is a contributing factor to the safety created within the group, which results in the real, vulnerable and dynamic sessions that we have within the Club.
It’s never just ‘this Member is having difficulty with something and we’re going to help them’, and always that the Member in focus is opening a valuable topic for us all to explore that we can work on and benefit from together.
It’s refreshing to experience the fun and friendship that comes from walking our evolving journey alongside others who are doing the same. I’m grateful for having the space to do this and the growth-focused comrades to do this with.
