What would you say if I told you that Discipline and Freedom go hand in hand?
You may, or may not have seen our email in December on the topic of Batching and the truth about Multitasking. We included some really interesting articles on the topic. and if you missed it, it’s included below. In today’s Winning Strategies session, I took us through a snapshot of my view on the stages of liberation, to enable Members to highlight areas of improvement in their lives and businesses, with productivity and time-freedom being a key area for some,
This provided an opportunity to take more of a deep-dive into the topic of Batching, with other Members sharing their invaluable experience with implementing Batching and that having done that, they would never dream of returning to how they did things before.
It is understandable that the thought of structuring the week to complete ‘like’ tasks in pre-planned blocks of time, and sticking vehemently to the plan might sound restrictive, limiting, counter-productive and even boring. However, the reality is quite different.
As one of the Elder Members (been with us 7+ years) shared today, he has got into a good rhythm and finds it liberating and freeing as he doesn’t have to think about it too much and he gets more done, in less time. He explained that he is pretty consistent with sticking the plan, but also allows flexibility for personal and family priorities.
A key to making Batching work for you, is to ‘create the framework and then play within’, so that you can enjoy the increased productivity and time-freedom whilst designing the schedule on your own terms, allowing for the unexpected. And is why discipline to the approach creates you more freedom of time, energy and brain power to use however you wish.
